On December 1, 2005, in celebration of the International Year of Physics, the Exploratorium in San Francisco is partnering with some of the world’s greatest science labs and museums to present a twelve-hour webcast that will originate from such outstanding scientific locations around the world as CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory (Geneva); The Science Museum of London, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Chicago), Stanford Linear Accelerator (Palo Alto), European Physical Society, European Network of Science Centers and Museums, Bloomfield Science Museum (Jerusalem), Techniquest Cardiff (Australia), and Tokyo Science Museum. In celebration of the International Year of Physics, one hour of the total webcast will originate from each location; the webcasts will deal with such topics as Einstein’s life, his theories, and how his ideas are being utilized at cutting-edge research facilities today. The webcast takes place on December 1, 2005. The URL is: www.exploratorium.edu/worldwidewebcast

At 2pm PST at the Exploratorium, or online, the public is invited to participate in activities that bring Einstein, the man and his work, to life, with Dr. Paul Doherty, and meet present day special guest physicists. They are researchers at Stanford Linear
Accelerator’s (SLAC) BaBar Collaboration: accelerator physicist Caolinn O’Connell and
theoretical physicist Stephon Alexander. BaBar is a major high-energy physics program for the coming decade that will enable scientists to investigate the matter-antimatter asymmetry in nature. And added note: Dr. O’Connell writes a blog, Quantum Diaries, that receives 2000 visits a month.
