Surgical Tools & Techniques

Saturday, November 12
10am–4pm

Forget those medical shows on TV. Get the true scoop on surgical tools and techniques from members of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). Their fascinating demonstrations will be performed without the use of real patients at the Exploratorium on Saturday, November 12, from 10am–4pm. Try your hand at a “seedectomy,” where you’ll have a chance to use keyhole instruments to remove a seed from a pumpkin. These demonstrations will take place at the Exploratorium and are free with museum admission.

AORN’s mision is to support registered nurses and achieve optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures.

The Exploratorium is located inside the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco's Marina District. Museum admission is as follows: Members FREE; Adults (18-64) $14.00; University Students (with ID) $11.00; Senior Citizens (65+) $11.00; People with disabilities $11.00; Youth (13-17) $11.00; Children (4-12) $9.00; Children Under 4 FREE. First Wednesdays of the month FREE. Exploratorium hours are TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY 10am–5pm, Open First Thursday of the month for adult evening hours until 10pm. CLOSED MONDAYS, except for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Exploratorium is wheelchair accessible. For information, call (415) EXP-LORE.
