Nobel Lecture Series Continues at the Exploratorium

From July 14-October 2, the Exploratorium presents a major exhibition, The Nobel Prize: 100 Years of Creativity, marked by Bay Area wide events featuring Nobel
Laureates and representatives of the Nobel Committee at UCSF, Stanford, UC Berkeley, the San Francisco Public Library and the Commonwealth Club, among others. The Exploratorium concludes its own Nobel Lecture Series on Thursday, August 4 at 7pm with Stanford Professor and Nobel Laureate Douglas Osheroff (Physics, 1996) on The Nature of Scientific Discovery: Tracing the Work of Nobel Laureates. The event is held in the Exploratorium’s McBean Theater and is free with museum admission. For advance reservations call (415) 561-0308. Free to members and with same day museum admission or purchase tickets ($12) at the door.

Stanford Professor and Nobel Laureate Douglas Osheroff (Physics, 1996) will talk about the unexpected discoveries and surprising applications of basic scientific research. He’ll use as examples the progression of research from several Nobel laureates, including his own work in the realm of super-cooled liquid helium.
