Children’s Science Classes for Members: Playing with Sound

Send your favorite kid to some cool science classes! Classes described below are for members of the Exploratorium at $30 each. Sign up online at www.exploratorium.edu/membership/classes.html. Questions? Please call (415) 561-0302 or email member@exploratorium.edu. The schedule is as follows:

Ages 3-4 with an Adult Companion
2-3pm
Parade of Sounds

In this class we will make exciting instruments from around the world out of everyday objects. At the end of class we will celebrate with a parade!

Ages 5-6
2-4pm
Listen Up
Close your eyes, what do you hear? Plug your ears, what do you see? Explore how sound helps us in our everyday lives. In this class we will play games and make discoveries about how we experience sound.

Ages 7-9
2-4pm
Catch the Sound Wave

What makes an echo? Do we hear underwater? In outer space? Together we will ask questions and make surprising discoveries on how sound travels and how we hear through a variety of experiments.

Ages 10-12
2-4pm
Got Rhythm?
Listen closely and explore the rhythms and tones in everyday sounds and make our own rhythm soundscape out of surprising objects.
